“As a civil rights leader and union organizer for more than 20 years, I realized instantly what was going on and knew I needed to take action immediately. Within five minutes on a one-person picket line I shut the store down, followed by the drive-thru,” said Johnson. “In Washington state we don't accept this kind of conduct from our corporate citizens and I felt a duty to intervene, disrupt business as usual, and adjudicate this matter,” said Johnson.

Joel Gabriel Johnson is a nationally recognized labor and civil rights organizer with over 15 years of experience building economic and racial justice across 20+ U.S. states. From organizing to win cannabis workers rights under federal law to winning a $22 million settlement for Toys "R" Us employees, Joel has dedicated his life to fighting exploitation—and winning.

As a shareholder of over 100 units of Starbucks Stock and long-time customer of Starbucks, Joel is not going to allow this form of injustice to go unchecked.
